KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 12): The motion to annul the Emergency Ordinances in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 12) has been postponed to the next meeting.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar announced the decision during the morning sitting on Tuesday, the last day of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 14th Parliament, during which the House was scheduled to debate and pass the resolution pursuant to Clause (3), Article 150 of the Federal Constitution to annul the Emergency Ordinances.
Wan Junaidi requested for the motions to carry forward several Bills, including the motion to annul the Emergency Ordinances, to be delayed to the next meeting, which is slated to go on from Oct 25 to Dec 16, 2021.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun allowed the request.
According to the Order Paper of the Dewan Rakyat, the prime minister will propose the annulment of the Emergency Ordinances, including the Emergency (Essential Powers) Ordinance 2021, the Emergency (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 and the Emergency (Employees Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommodation and Amenities (Amendment) Ordinance 2021.
