KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 25): Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccine doses administered climbed to 420,164 yesterday (Aug 24) from 396,578 for the previous day.
Among them, 155,004 individuals received their first dose, while the remaining 265,160 received their second jab, according to the latest updates on Twitter today by the country’s Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).
Meanwhile, the country's cumulative number of vaccine shots given out had risen to 32.21 million as of yesterday.
Some 18.63 million individuals, or 57.1% of the nation's population, had received at least the first dose of the vaccine as of yesterday, including 13.58 million or 41.6% who were fully inoculated.
About 6.76 million individuals or 80.2% of the total population of the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.
Of this, 5.3 million people or 62.9% of the Klang Valley's population were fully inoculated with two doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Johor came on top as the state with the highest number of first doses administered yesterday at 32,406, followed by Kedah (18,841) and Sabah (18,296).
For second doses, Johor also led the country with 38,655 jabs, followed by Selangor (32,028) and Sabah (31,476).
On the other hand, Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 20,837 yesterday, compared with 17,672 for the previous day. This raised the country's cumulative cases to 1.59 million.
A total of 211 pandemic-related deaths were reported yesterday, bringing the nation's total death toll to 14,553.
