DUBAI (Aug 11): Standing at 828m, Burj Khalifa by Emaar is the world's tallest building. With the design inspired by the spider lily flower, the tower consists of 1.85 million sq ft of residential space and 300,000 sq ft of office space.

Additionally, being the world's tallest also comes with a string of records. The tower houses the world's highest elevators (also the world's fastest), highest occupied floor, highest outdoor observation deck among others.

There are 2,909 steps to the 160th floor, and ladders are used to go higher. And that is how the team at Emirates Airlines scaled to the tip of the Burj Khalifa to film one of the highest ads ever made.

According to a tweet by Emirates (Aug 9) which is accompanied by a video, the ad was filmed at the pinnacle without any special effects amid rigorous planning and strict safety protocols.

The climb took over an hour from level 160 of the Burj Khalifa via a series of ladders. The stunt woman, dressed in the iconic Emirates cabin crew uniform with the red hat, was secured via safety harness and stood on a 1.2m wide custom-made platform attached to the pinnacle of the tower.

A single drone was used to capture the footage in a continuous take to film the sequence.

The 30-second clip opens with a close up of the supposed cabin crew holding up message boards, inspired by the famous scene in the 2003 cult hit “Love Actually”.

As the camera pans out, audiences will notice that she is actually standing at the pinnacle of the Burj Khalifa, plus a panoramic view of Dubai’s skyline.
