Malaysia’s daily Covid-19 vaccination rate declined for third consecutive day to 168,956 doses on June 27

KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): The number of Covid-19 vaccine jabs in Malaysia further declined for the third consecutive day to 168,956 doses yesterday (June 27), from 187,877 doses administered a day prior. 

According to the latest tweet from the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), 103,856 individuals received their first doses, while 65,100 persons got their second doses yesterday.

As such, the seven-day moving average for Covid-19 vaccinations now stands at 225,761, compared to 221,707 on the day before. 

In total, 7.4 million Covid-19 vaccine doses had been administered across the nation so far, comprising 5.31 million first doses and 2.09 million second doses, the task force said.

At least 16.2% of the population have gotten their first dose, with 6.4% of the population fully inoculated.

Among the states and federal territories, Sarawak reported the highest cumulative number of first doses administered at 953,982, or 33.9% of its population, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 932,659, or 52.6% of its population. 

For second doses, Selangor recorded the highest cumulative number of shots administered at 270,221, or 4.1% of its population, followed by Sarawak at 227,292, or 8.1% of its population.

Meanwhile, Malaysia’s new daily Covid-19 infections came in lower at 5,586 cases yesterday, down from 5,803 seen on Saturday (June 26).

According to Health Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah, cumulative cases now stand at 734,048.

Selangor continued to report the highest number of infections, with 2,212 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 628 cases, while Sarawak saw 513 cases.

The number of new infections exceeded new recoveries yesterday, which stood at 4,777. Cumulative recoveries stand at 667,709 or 91% of the total number of cases.

Consequently, active cases increased to 61,395, up from the 60,646 cases seen in the previous day. Of this, 886 patients were in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 446 of them requiring respiratory support.

The country also saw 60 coronavirus-related deaths yesterday, bringing the total death toll from Covid-19 to 4,944, representing a mortality rate of 0.67%.
