KUALA LUMPUR (June 21): UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Datin Sri Badrunnisa Mohd Yasin Khan and Alex Yeow Wai Siaw as its new independent non-executive directors in the board of directors of the company, effective today.

The company announced the new appointments today. It also noted that independent non-executive director Christina Foo will be redesignated as the senior independent director.

This follows the retirements of Tan Sri Dr Azmil Khalili Datuk Khalid, Ungku Suseelawati Ungku Omar and Datin Teh Ija Mohd Jalil at the conclusion of the 13th annual general meeting held today.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tan Sri Azmil, Ungku Suseelawati and Datin Teh Ija for their leadership, contribution and counsel to the Board. At the same time, we welcome Datin Sri Badrunnisa and Alex to the Board and we are confident that they will provide much value and strategic input, given their combined experience in their respective fields,” said UEM Sunrise chairman of the board of directors Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz.

Badrunnisa, 61, has more than 30 years of working experience focusing on nformation technology and human resources within the oil and gas and telecommunications industries. 

Yeow, 56, held significant professional and management positions across a wide spectrum of industries. He was a consultant in McKinsey & Company where he served various corporate clients as well as government linked companies in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
