KUALA LUMPUR (March 3): Dolly Parton, that legendary woman of country tunes, played her part in contributing to the upcoming herd immunity by getting vaccinated against Covid-19, the New York Times reported today.
The 75-year-old songtress took a Moderna vaccination at Vanderbilt Health in Tennessee, yesterday. She announced the event on her Twitter with the posting “Dolly gets a dose of her own medicine”.
Besides doing her social service, it was also reported last year that Parton donated US$1 million (RM4.05 million) to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to work with Moderna for the development of vaccines. What a lady!
“Well, hey, it’s me. I’m finally gonna get my vaccine,” Parton said in a video accompanying her Twitter post.
“I’m so excited. I’ve been waiting a while. I’m old enough to get it, and I’m smart enough to get it,” she added.
She also had strong words for people to get the vaccine when their opportunity comes.
“I think we all want to get back to normal — whatever that is — and that would be a great shot in the arm, wouldn’t it?”
“I just want to say to all of you cowards out there: Don’t be such a chicken squat.
“Get out there and get your shot,” she added.
