KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 7): Chong Hwa Independent High School (pictured) is closed for three days after a family member of three students tested positive for Covid-19, China Press reported today.

Citing an announcement issued by the school to all parents, a family member of three students from Form 1, Form 3 and Form 4 tested positive for the coronavirus. The school will be closed for three days from Thursday to Saturday for disinfection.

Chong Hwa Independent High School board of director chairman Tan Sri Lim Keng Cheng has confirmed the news to China Press.

He said that the Covid-19 patient is the grandmother of the three students, who are not staying under one roof. However, some 700 students have been absent from school after the news spread yesterday.

“According to the authority’s guideline, the school does not need to close if no student is tested positive for Covid-19. However, as many parents have shown their concern, we therefore decided to close the school for three days for disinfection. Classes will be continued via an online platform, like how we did earlier,” Lim noted.
