KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 8): Malaysians working in Singapore are advised to stay in the city-state for at least another two weeks, instead of coming back home.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this as the authorities of the two countries are still in talks on the terms for Malaysians returning from Singapore, considering the two countries are now under movement restrictions following the Covid-19 outbreak.
"If possible, for Malaysians working in Singapore, they should remain in Singapore for two more weeks.
"We are in talks with Singapore to see if employers there can keep them (Malaysians) for two weeks," Noor Hisham told a press conference yesterday.
However, Malaysians who are insisting to return home will have to go through the necessary measures by the Health Ministry to screen them for Covid-19.
Last Friday, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced a "circuit breaker", where most workplaces, except for key economic sectors and essential services, will be closed effective yesterday.
Meanwhile, all schools and institutes of higher learning will close and move to full home-based learning starting today.
