PETALING JAYA (Dec 20): A new traffic flow will be introduced at the Jalan Templer, Jalan Gasing, Jalan Othman and Lebuhraya Baru Pantai (NPE) crossroad. For this purpose, a trial run will be conducted from Dec 23 to Jan 24 by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

During this period, drivers coming from both sides of Jalan Templer (Assunta Hospital and Old Klang Road) are not allowed to make a right turn nor U-turn, reported The Star today.

On the other hand, there is no change for vehicles from Jalan Othman and Jalan Gasing.

A three-phase traffic light will operate at the crossroad, which will let vehicles from both sides of Jalan Templer go simultaneously while others are halted. The second phase and third phase are for vehicles coming from Jalan Gasing and Jalan Othman respectively.

The new system is an effort by MBPJ to counter the traffic congestion at the crossroad during peak hours.

Previously in 2016, a short-term solution had been implemented, using contra flow traffic along Jalan Gasing and parts of Jalan Templer in the evening, in addition to blocking the right turn for vehicles coming from Jalan Templer heading towards Jalan Gasing and Jalan Othman in the mornings.
