PETALING JAYA (Oct 24): The handing over of reclaimed land off Gurney Drive to the Penang government has begun.

Buletin Mutiara reports that Sectional handover of the 53.05ha began this month, and the first 3.23ha land was handed over to the state on Oct 7.

Mid-September 2020 is when the full handover is scheduled to be completed.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and fifteen delegates from the state government, were recently briefed about the Gurney Wharf reclamation project.

The Star reports that the concession agreement states December 2022 is when Tanjung Pinang Development Sdn Bhd (TPD) is to complete reclaimation and hand over the Gurney foreshore land to the Penang state.

TPD is a subsidiary of Eastern and Oriental Berhad.

The Gurney Wharf seafront park-in-the-city project is expected to be complete in 2021, and includes a food court, restaurants, promenade, wetlands, beaches, children’s playground, skate park and water taxi pier.
