KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has rejected a settlement offer by one of the 41 respondents in its civil forfeiture suit to claim RM265.03 million allegedly siphoned from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), the High Court was told today.

Umno Pekan committee member Ibrahim Awang Ismail, from whom the anti-graft agency has claimed RM100,000, filed a first representation on July 16 to settle half of that value, said deputy public prosecutor Allan Suman Pilai.

"The prosecution has rejected the representation. We are seeking a global settlement," Allan said.

As such, Ibrahim will be submitting a second representation soon, defence lawyer Nurshafiqa Balqish Jaffri told High Court judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.

In the meantime, the High Court was told that Ibrahim has submitted an application to strike out the suit — although he has reserved his right to do so.

Should the parties fail to reach an agreement via the second representation, Justice Nazlan has set Aug 23 for hearing.
