KUALA LUMPUR (April 26): Now here is a cheap security option for your home. Keep it so messy that burglars think that it has just been recently burgled.
This was what happened to the home of a senior citizen named Ang in Simpang Empat, Penang.
According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, two men broke into his home but were so shocked by its messy condition that they asked the owner, 77-year-old Ang, who just returned home as the burglars were still in the premises, if the house actually belonged to him.
The report by the Chinese daily, which was also carried by the portal World Of Buzz, described the state of the house as being “as if a tornado had just swept through the inside of the property”.
Ang said the burglars were carrying away his television set when they decided to leave it back in the house -- they came to the wrong conclusion that other criminals have already ransacked the house and they better make a run for it.
Ang has lodged a police report over the incident and told Sin Chew that burglars have broken into his house numerous times. He said that this could be because of its location as a corner unit which “made it easier for criminals to sneak in via the side windows”.
As a result, the Penangite has decided not to keep anything of value in his home.
