PETALING JAYA (Jan 18): The prices of RON95 and RON97 will increase by six sen per litre, while diesel will be hiked by 12 sen.

The RON95 fuel would therefore sell at RM1.98 per litre, RON97 at RM2.28 and diesel at RM2.17 tomorrow, the Finance Ministry said in a statement today.

The new prices would kick in at 12.01am on Jan 19 until Jan 25.

"The increase was due to the price of processed petroleum products in the world market which showed an upward trend compared to the previous week, from US$60 per barrel to US$63 per barrel for RON95 petrol and from US$68 per barrel to US$72 per barrel for diesel," said the Finance Ministry.

The weekly fuel pricing system was enforced on Jan 5 with the new Automatic Pricing Mechanism or APM.

With the APM, fuel prices are announced every Friday and they will remain for a week until the next Friday.
