PETALING JAYA (Nov 29): Segambut recently saw the opening of a spacious and well-equipped Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) office in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

The Star reports that branch office, located at 8, Changkat Abang Haji Openg, features  amenities such as a mini auditorium, children’s play area, carpark and a drive-thru counter, slated to begin operations next year. The office and facilities are located on 920sq m of land.

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan was quoted as saying that assessment tax collection in Segambut was one of the highest at RM59.2mil.

“As such, it is only right for DBKL to give better facilities back to the people.

“We have also organised and facilitated 235 community programmes this year.

“The Segambut DBKL branch office is also involved in the Health and Environment department blueprint programme to ensure the constituency is kept clean,” he said.

Segambut assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, speaking to the daily, said: “The old branch office was inconvenient for the people to deal with DBKL as it was located in a shoplot and it was very difficult to find parking space.

“This building has ample parking space, drive-thru counter and children’s facilities to make it easier for people.

“It is definitely a better venue and a lot more visible as it is located at the foot of the main entrance into Bukit Kiara, frequented by many, especially on the weekends.

“I am also happy there is an auditorium that people can rent for their programmes,” she said.
