KUALA LUMPUR (July 9): HSS Engineers Bhd associate company HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI) has received a letter from China Communication Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd on the suspension of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, Bernama reported today

China Communication Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd received the letter from the project owner, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, on July 4.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the company said the suspension of the ECRL project was not expected to have any significant financial impact on the company’s operations and financials for the period up to date of the suspension.

“However, subsequent to the date of suspension, the company will only be able to assess the actual impact on the company’s operations and financials upon receipt of clear direction from the client and/or Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd after the completion of the government’s review of the ECRL project,” Bernama reported it as saying.

HSSI was appointed to provide consultancy services for infrastructure works for the initial 231.5km of the ECRL mega project.

In the event the suspension is lifted, the contract is expected contribute positively to the company’s revenue and earnings, Bernama reported.
