KUALA LUMPUR (June 7): People's Housing Project (PPR) homeowners who flout the rules in Johor better watch out!
The state government “has not ruled out blacklisting owners of PPR units who are acting as landlords”, reported The Star daily today.
“The PPR is a transit home before they can get their own house, and it is not meant to be rented out,” said Johor Housing and Rural Development Committee chairman Dzulkefly Ahmad at a media conference in Masjid Jamek Kampong Pok, Johor today.
“This issue of PPR owners renting out their units in Johor has been going on for many years but no action has been taken against them,” he added.
He said that measures should be taken so that those eligible are not deprived from renting the PPR units.
Dzulkefly also spoke out against those renting out to foreigners.
“Those who are renting out the units to foreigners are also committing an offence as the units are not meant for foreigners.”
On Tuesday, Housing and Local Government (KPKT) Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin announced that owners of PPR units currently renting out their units to foreigners have been given 90 days (from June 5) to evict them.
“Some PPR unit owners have rented out their units to foreign workers. This can cause social problems in the community,” she said.
