PETALING JAYA (March 1): Shanghai-based, state-owned property developer Greenland Group has partnered with AirAsia Bhd to boost local development and tourism in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
According to a statement by AirAsia Bhd, Greenland Group has unveiled a special livery on AirAsia’s Airbus A320 aircraft last Friday.
The aircraft will be flying direct routes between Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru and Guangzhou as well as other AirAsia’s networks.
“We believe that together with AirAsia’s direct route to Guangzhou, we can promote Johor Bahru as a major industry leader and hub in tourism, trade and investment,” said Greenland Malaysia general manager Du FuGen at the launch of the new livery.
Greenland Group’s flagship project in Iskandar Malaysia is the 17-acre Jade Palace in Danga Bay. The developer has also unveiled Helios Cove in 3Q2016, a 128-acre integrated township in Tebrau Bay on the eastern corridor of Johor Bahru.
When completed, Helios Cove will be a fully integrated township with waterfront residences as well as commercial and retail outlets across five main zones.
“Our direct flights out of Senai to Guangzhou that commenced in May 2016 have helped in boosting cooperation between Johor Bahru and Guangzhou, especially with ongoing development in Iskandar Malaysia which has presented a demand for air travel between Johor and parts of China.
“Through our partnership with Greenland Group, we hope to connect and attract even more customers, guests and key players here to grow Johor Bahru together,” said AirAsia head of commercial Spencer Lee.
