KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 20): MyHSR Corp Sdn Bhd has launched a strategic development framework (SDF) to outline socioeconomic development direction along the 350km Kuala Lumpur Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) corridor.
At the launch today, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said the SDF is a holistic socioeconomic development framework, and it is jointly created by key stakeholders at federal, state and local levels, including representatives from the private sector together with MyHSR and the Economic Planning Unit.
"The government plays a vital role in ensuring that the right enablers are in place. These include policies, incentives and regulations that support development; key infrastructure to increase competitiveness; talent development and upskilling to meet industry needs; and the set-up of dynamic delivery mechanisms at the federal, state and local levels," he said.
"To ensure maximum impact, we must all be willing to explore creative approaches towards delivering these enablers," he added.
Abdul Rahman said these enablers will include the involvement of entrepreneurs and social enterprises, and the establishment of public-private partnerships.
"While the government is committed to supporting enablers, the private sector must be proactive and play their part by implementing responsible and sustainable practices and taking into account the economic and social impact of the project on the society as a whole," he said.
Abdul Rahman said the preparation for delivering the SDF will involve multiple stakeholder engagement, including a series of workshops in each city along the HSR corridor, and sessions that bring the public and private sectors together. — theedgemarkets.com
