KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 3): YTL Corp Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary YTL Hotels & Properties Sdn Bhd has expanded its assortment of luxury properties in the United Kingdom, with the acquisition of the Threadneedles Hotel in London.

One of London's finest, the hotel is a Grade-II listed Victorian building that was immaculately restored to a luxury hotel in 2002.

It was previously the head offices of City and Midland Bank in the 1880s, said YTL Hotels in a statement yesterday.

The acquisition expands YTL Hotels' stable of luxury properties under its Autograph Collection to four, with the three being: The Glasshouse in Edinburgh in United Kingdom, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, and Hotel Stripes Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which will make its debut next month.

“As one of London’s finest hotels, Threadneedles Hotel formed a powerful franchise affiliation with the autograph collection by Marriott International in 2013, and under YTL Hotel’s new ownership and the group's decades-long relationship with Marriot International, the hotel will continue to set the benchmark in best of class standards," the statement read.

“We are excited to secure yet another iconic autograph collection property in partnership with Marriott International, to further expand our hospitality footprint within the United Kingdom,” said YTL Hotels executive director Datuk Mark Yeoh.

The Threadneedles Hotel has 74 bedrooms and suites that combine the contemporary style with the building’s banking heritage. — theedgemarkets.com
