There is also Air Itam Educational Forest, a sizable mangrove area within the district which is open to the public and tourists who are interested in learning its unique flora and fauna.

Within the next five years, plans are afoot to make Tasek Gelugor an agro tourism centre. It would be a hub for river tourism, as well as a haven for those interested in freshwater fish, prawns and other edible life from rivers. This effort is being spearheaded by local cooperatives with supervision from local university UTM to ensure its proper implementation.
