MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah noted that there were five groups of healthcare workers with the highest number of Covid-19 infections, namely nurses, medical officers, healthcare assistants, assistant medical officers and graduate medical officers.
Three of the clusters were identified at construction sites in Kuala Lumpur, namely Bina Residen in Lembah Pantai with 294 cases, Bina Kasih in Kepong with 43 cases, and Sinar View, also in Kepong, with 32 cases.
The new cases raised Malaysia's cumulative confirmed Covid-19 infections to 97,389, from just 65,697 cases at end-November.
“Following the easing of movement restrictions in early May 2020, works at all construction and property projects gradually picked up pace while traffic plying the expressways were returning to pre-movement restrictions level.”
Karex said the affected catheter facility is closed temporarily for disinfection and sanitisation processes and is expected to resume operations in stages beginning Dec 25.
Following this surge of new cases, the current number of active cases — meaning those who carry high transmission risks — breached the 16,000 mark for the first time with 16,496.
Among the public hospitals in Selangor, the one with the highest number of Covid-19 infections is the Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang with 54 cases, followed by Serdang Hospital with 29 cases, Sungai Buloh Hospital with 15 cases, and the Selayang Hospital (four cases).
