Based on the data provided by the MoH’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), from May 26 until noon yesterday, the number of active cases in Sepang, Selangor dropped to 32 from 58 previously, while cases in Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur fell to 34 from 80.
One new death was reported, bringing Malaysia's Covid-19 death toll to 116.
This is the highest ever daily figure recorded in the country; the second highest was on March 26 with 235 cases.
Of the 275 local transmissions, 271 cases involved foreign nationals with 270 emerging from repeat testing of detainees at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot Centre, while another case was detected at a construction site in Pudu.
The group had in February this year announced the proposed disposal. Subsequently, on March 10, it said pursuant to the disposal, Berjaya Kyoto Development Kabushiki Kaisha (BKD) which is another subsidiary of Berjaya Corp had entered into a leaseback agreement of the hotel.
Six confirmed infections, involving Malaysians, have been detected in this cluster.
The fifteen imported cases reported today were found among those who returned from Egypt (7), Saudi Arabia (5), Mexico (1), India (1) and China (1).
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said six of the flat residents have tested positive for Covid-19.
This brings the total number of cases in the country so far to 7,857, said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
"The company (MUI) wishes to advise that Metrojaya Bhd continues to operate its retailing business as usual through various subsidiaries including its Metrojaya department stores under MJ Department Stores and its East India Company specialty store under EIC Clothing. These are separate entities from MDS and EIC.”
