The Ministry of Health (MoH) has listed 31 health districts and 58 sub-districts across Malaysia as Covid-19 red zones.
The Malaysian Prison Department today said Covid-19 transmissions among prisons are under control, thanks to strategies such as lockdowns and quarantining of inmates and remanded individuals that have helped reduce daily Covid-19 cases.
This brings the country's confirmed Covid-19 infections to 33,339.
The number of active cases — patients who carry transmission risks and have to be admitted to hospitals and quarantined — swelled to a fresh record high of 10,392.
The ministry has a total of 16,060 beds compared to 11,076 beds on Oct 17. This comprised 3,825 beds at hospitals and 12,235 beds at quarantine and low-risk treatment centres, according to MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah via his Twitter account.
Sabah has continuously reported Covid-19-related deaths in the past three weeks. In this month alone, Sabah has recorded a total of 101 deaths.
