On speaking to investors from China, Puah said: "We explained the policy, especially the part that says even if you come (to Malaysia), there’s no guarantee you will become citizens. Everybody started laughing. They said, ‘we don’t want to become your citizens. We don’t want to stay’.”
Yazid said he understood the preference for China contractors or sub-contractors, however, this should not be an excuse for them not to hire local companies or workers and only to hire China firms.
"In the ECRL project, we must look whether the project can create value and give benefits to the people in an economic situation which is highly untenable currently,” said Mohamed Azmin.
