Gemas is a small town in the state of Negeri Sembilan.
Accessibility and Transportation
This town is positioned approximately 165 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur. Gemas is where the Malaysian west and east coast rail lines which are operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) meet. Furthermore, Federal Highways Route 1 and 10 also connect Gemas to other towns, where Route 1 links Gemas to Seremban, Tampin and all the way to Johor Bahru. Route 10 on the other hand, links Gemas to Temerloh in the state of Pahang. Fascinatingly, Route 10 is built almost parallel to the KTM tracks and passes en route through Bahau and Triang, which are 2 important railway towns.
A RM7.1 billion Gemas-Johor Bahru electrified double-track train (EDTT) project which will include upgrading works on stations is expected to be completed in the year 2021. This track which will start from Johor Bahru Sentral to Kemas Baru, Kulai, Simpang Renggam, Layang-Layang, Kluang, Mengkibol, Paloh, Bekok, Labis, Genung, Segamat and Gemas will measure 197 kilometres and is expected to provide capacity for trains to hit 160 kilometres per hour.
