PETALING JAYA (Aug 20): Just two more days until The Edge-Mah Sing Millionaire (TEMS MILLIONAIRE) grand finale at Southville City @ KL South sales gallery this Saturday.
The 21 lucky finalists beat thousands of competitors from Malaysia and Singapore to be shortlisted.
They’ll now face off in a series of fun challenges to determine the winner of the RM1 million cash voucher to buy a Mah Sing home of their dreams.
The online competition organised by The Edge Media Group and Mah Sing Group Bhd started in June.
Contestants were required to register at theedgeproperty.com and use a feature called The Edge Reference Price tool before moving on to the dedicated contest web page on the Mah Sing website, where they had to take part in several online games and activities to collect tokens.
Meet some of the finalists and find out what they had to say about preparing for the big day.
1. Naveendran Shahol Hamid
34, architect, Johor
How did you feel about being shortlisted as a finalist?
When I first got the call from Mah Sing saying that I was one of the finalists, I couldn’t believe it. They also said my collection of tokens was amongst the top 10. My first reaction was surprise and happiness. I’m really excited for the final round on Saturday.
I didn’t expect to be one of the finalists since I entered the contest quite late. I actually registered on my birthday, on July 13. But I made sure to play the games every day after work.
How are you preparing for the grand finale on Saturday?
When they told me that the final round would involve physical and mental challenges, I started preparing myself to face them. I’ve been reading and physically preparing myself in hopes of winning.
How did you feel about being shortlisted as a finalist?
I was really surprised when I got the call from Mah Sing and even thought that it was a credit card gimmick asking me to sign up for a card to win a house. I am actually coming down to KL tomorrow, two days prior to the event date because I am really excited! I submitted my entry quite late, near the closing date of the contest, so I really did not expect to win.
How are you preparing for the grand finale on Saturday?
I’m reading up on Mah Sing's latest projects just in case there are any pop quizzes.
3. Woon Yann Woan
52, IT manager, Selangor
How did you feel about being shortlisted as a finalist?
I was surprised and shocked – more shocked than surprised when I was first contacted by Mah Sing. Now that it’s near the finale, I’m feeling more excited and looking forward to this Saturday's event.
How are you preparing for the grand finale on Saturday?
My strategy is to go with the flow this Saturday and hope the presence of my husband will help me to win the contest.
4. Wong Kah Yee
31, banker, Kuala Lumpur
How did you feel about being shortlisted as a finalist?
I received the phone call last Friday afternoon when I was in the office. I was so shocked. I couldn’t believe that I had been chosen as one of the finalists.
Although I did everything needed to win the tokens, such as sharing the information on Facebook, emailing friends and visiting the Mah Sing sales gallery on Jalan Tun Razak, I was not really confident that I will be chosen.
I was so surprised that suddenly, my mind went blank as I did not know what to do next.
How are you preparing for the grand finale on Saturday?
I don’t know what to prepare for the coming competition, but I do like outdoor activities. So it should be no problem for me.
Stay tuned for more reactions from other challengers!
