Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah YusofGEORGE TOWN (April 6): The Federal Government is willing to provide input on the RM27 billion Penang Transport Master Plan (PTMP), according to Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (pictured).

Fadillah said the Penang State Government and Gamuda Bhd-led project delivery partner SRS Consortium had not consulted the ministry on PTMP.

"If they do need any advice or technical input from the Federal Government, we are willing to assist them," he told reporters at the opening of the RM337.7 million Bayan Lepas Expressway (BLE) today.

The 3.2km elevated BLE, built by UEM Builders Bhd, was open to motorists after two years of construction, which began on April 1, 2014.

The PTMP, which involves a 20km link connecting Gurney Drive and Bayan Lepas, besides a light-rail transit system between Komtar and Bayan Lepas, is at the detailed environmental impact assessment stage. -- theedgemarkets.com
