SHAH ALAM (July 10): Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang has been appointed as the new president of the World Council of Developers and Investors of FIABCI (The International Real Estate Federation) for a one-year term effective from June 30, 2023.

Koe aspires to connect international developers and investors and unlock potential for cross border partnerships and collaborations; with a goal of establishing a wide network beyond borders, fostering growth and innovation in the real estate industry, FIABCI stated in a media release.

"I am honoured to assume the role of President of the World Council of Developers and Investors of FIABCI International Real Estate Federation. My mission is to foster collaboration and create opportunities for developers and investors across borders. Together, we can unlock the true potential of the global real estate market," Koe said.

Koe “brings a distinguished career spanning over three decades, with a wealth of experience in civil engineering, construction, infrastructure works, and property development”, stated FIABCI.

After serving IOI property as a project manager, he joined S P Setia Bhd in 1997 and advanced rapidly through various business and operational roles. After holding various key positions in the Group, Koe rose to the role of group chief operating officer, which he retired from in 2022.

Koe held regional responsibilities over the group's international projects in Vietnam, UK, China and Japan. He served on the board of directors for the G2G China Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and oversaw the group's venture in Japan, Setia Izumisano City Centre in Osaka. He was also appointed as the chairman of Tender and Award Committee for Battersea Power Station, London.

He was also the president of FIABCI-Malaysia (2020-2022) and vice-president for FIABCI Asia Pacific Committees (June 2021 – May 2023).

Koe holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Birmingham and Leeds Universities in the UK respectively. He is a registered professional engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia and a member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia. His contribution to the construction and property industry includes successfully implementing large-scale national projects such as the Petronas Twin Towers.

He is actively involved in NGO entities; he is one of the founding members of the Lion Club St James, London, and appointed the Event Ambassador for Chinese Information and Advice Centre (London,UK), the recipient of the Queen's award for voluntary services.
