KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): Sunway Bhd has appointed Datuk Mohd Anuar Taib as its independent and non-executive director, effective Friday (July 7).

Mohd Anuar, 55, is currently the executive director of Practice Note 17 (PN17) Sapura Energy Bhd, a post he has held since March 23, 2021, according to the filing.

“He has more than 30 years of experience in the oil and gas (O&G) industry with Shell, Petronas and Sapura Energy in various technical, commercial, and leadership positions covering upstream regulatory functions, exploration and production, refinery, gas and liquified natural gas (LNG), downstream marketing commercial functions, and integrated service company with national, regional and global coverage," it said.

He joined the O&G industry in 1990 with Sarawak Shell Bhd, the Royal Dutch Shell's subsidiary in Malaysia. He then joined Petronas as the vice president of development and production, and chief executive officer of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

Sunway’s shares closed unchanged at RM1.58 on Friday, valuing the group at RM7.9 billion.
