KUALA LUMPUR (June 10): Sime Darby Property Bhd scored two “major wins” at the FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards 2023 held in Miami, US on June 8.
Its City of Elmina was named the World Gold winner in the Masterplan category for its holistic design that demonstrates how nature can coexist with a well-planned development; while Cantara Residences, a family-oriented residential development located in Ara Damansara was bestowed with the World Silver award for the Residential Mid-Rise category.
“Sime Darby Property is on a journey of discovery to explore concepts that push the boundaries in the world of property development. We are proud to be recognised by esteemed industry experts, validating the path we have chosen,” said Sime Darby Property group managing director, Datuk Azmir Merican.
“It is a remarkable accomplishment for the Company to receive these awards on an international scale. We will remain dedicated to keep innovating and stay adaptable to the industry's megatrends, while striving to raise the bar in the industry,” he added.
The City of Elmina was designed for multi-generational living with a green-inspired community. The masterplan incorporates all facets of life based on the ‘eight pillars of wellness’ as a guiding principle and is in line with Mercer's Quality of Living Survey's evaluation of liveability around the world.
The 6,500-acre township has parklands that are supported by the 2,700-acre Bukit Cherakah Forest Reserve and is planned with a 90km interconnected jogging and cycling track as well as a 300-acre Central Park.
Meanwhile, Cantara Residences comprises four towers housing 888 serviced residences and 13 Green Building Index Gold-certified retail units that “sets a new standard for sustainable and connected living”, stated Sime Darby Property in a media release.
The development is noted for its 168-meter-long, unique double-story ‘Living Sky Bridge’ which is classified in the Malaysia Book of Records as "The Longest Residential Sky Bridge" in Malaysia.
Cantara Residences also includes 3.2 acres of shared facilities “situated amid a refreshing urban forest, which has helped to expand the number of greeneries by 200% since the start of development”.
“These accolades reinforce our dedication to constructing enduring townships and futures, embodying our purpose as a Value Multiplier for People, Businesses, Economies, and the Planet. Our focus extends beyond property development as we strive to cultivate sustainable communities that enrich lives for generations to come.
“We thank FIABCI for acknowledging our potential and look forward to constantly delivering liveability and sustainability for the benefit of our stakeholders,” said Azmir.
