- "Members of the public will be able to view the detailed information on the proposed MRT3 Project and are encouraged to provide their feedback."
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): MRT Corp Sdn Bhd, the asset owner of the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit, is conducting a detailed and comprehensive study of the proposed MRT Circle Line (MRT3) alignment, including the suitability of a realignment.
In several Twitter responses over the last three days, MRT Corp said the detailed and comprehensive study on the proposed alignment is being done for the purpose of minimising the social impact of the project on the public, especially land acquisition.
"Upon the completion of the said study, MRT Corp will conduct a Public Inspection of the MRT3 Railway Scheme for the period of three months, where information about the proposed MRT3 Project will be displayed in selected locations.
"Members of the public will be able to view the detailed information on the proposed MRT3 Project and are encouraged to provide their feedback," said MRT Corp through its official twitter account @MRTMalaysia when asked by members of the public in regards to the proposed alignment and stations of the MRT3.
A detailed alignment for the MRT3 has not been revealed, despite MRT Corp calling for tenders for both the project management consultancy (PMC) contract as well as the civil construction packages.
In August last year, MRT Corp had appointed the joint venture entity of HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd and HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd for the PMC package worth RM997.9 million. MRT Corp has yet to award the civil construction packages.
Meanwhile, the due date for the submissions for the systems turnkey contractor has been extended to the middle of this month.
Following the progress of the project, some groups have called for the authorities to hold dialogue sessions to discuss issues concerning the alignment before it is approved.
This is because many landowners and homeowners have been in the dark concerning the alignment of the MRT3, but had already been given notice by the Land Department on the possible acquisition of their homes.
Meanwhile, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli had said he will meet MRT Corp and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to address his constituents' concerns over their homes being demolished to make way for the project.
The MRT3 Circle Line, estimated to cost RM50.2 billion, is said to be the critical final piece to complete Kuala Lumpur’s urban rail network, with its 50.8km alignment running along the perimeter of the city.
