423,380 Covid-19 vaccine doses administered on Aug 25, nearly 58% of population received at least one shot ⁠— JKJAV

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 26): A total of 423,380 Covid-19 vaccine doses were given yesterday (Aug 25) across the country, up from 420,164 the day before.

Of the doses administered yesterday, 161,386 were first shots, while 261,994 people were given their second jab, according to the latest tweets by the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

This brought total vaccine doses administered in Malaysia as of yesterday to 32.64 million.

A total of 18.79 million people or 57.5% of the nation’s population had received at least their first dose, including 13.84 million or 42.4% who were fully inoculated.

Meanwhile, about 6.78 million individuals or 80.4% of the total population of the Klang Valley, comprising Selangor, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday.

Among them, 5.36 million people or 63.6% of the Klang Valley's population were fully inoculated with two doses of the vaccine.

Among the states and federal territories, Johor delivered the highest number of first doses yesterday at 31,221, followed by Kedah (21,026), Sabah (16,206) and Terengganu (14,657).

For second doses, Johor also led the country with 38,127 shots yesterday, followed by Sabah with 35,054 and Selangor with 32,889.

Malaysia’s new Covid-19 cases rose to 22,642 yesterday from 20,837 the day before. This raised the country’s cumulative Covid-19 cases to 1.62 million.

A total of 265 Covid-19-linked fatalities were reported yesterday, raising the nation's total fatalities due to the coronavirus to 14,818.
