PETALING JAYA (June 19): PKR today said the it will not support Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pictured) as Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for prime minister, said reports

The central leadership council announced today that the party will maintain the PH consensus for PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to be the coalition’s PM candidate if the opposition takes over Putrajaya again.

The party also said it “remains open to discussing with all parties, including Mahathir, to save the country and return the people’s mandate”.

PKR added that DAP and Amanah had been consistent in their support for Anwar as prime minister and that “a problem only arose when Mahathir wanted a third term”.

The party revealed that it will prepare for the possibility of a snap election and “outlined its agenda should it return to government”.

It said “any new administration must be stable and not subject to constant changes in leadership” and that the “results of by-elections and the views of the people, including Malays who were critical of the PH administration, should be analysed and taken as a lesson”.

The party wants to fight for the poor, settlers’ and workers’ rights, and ensure that no one is left behind.
