KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 29): Sarawak-based GPS today clarified that even though it supports Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister, is not part of the Perikatan Nasional government, said statement from the Chief Minister's Office.

"GPS is not a member of Perikatan Nasional but only as a political entity in Sarawak that gives support to Muhyiddin in the interest of the nation and to save Malaysia from political instability without sacrificing the interest of Sarawak.

"At this juncture, GPS will only be a political party that is friendly to Perikatan Nasional," Malaysiakini reported the statement saying.

This evening, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong A-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has appointed Muhyiddin as the eighth prime minister.

Muhyiddin also said that he hopes all Malaysians will accept the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong's decision.

The swearing-in ceremony of Muhyiddin as Malaysia's eighth prime minister will be held at 10.30am tomorrow at Istana Negara.
