KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): For 45 minutes, a man's leg remained stuck in an escalator, before the Fire and Rescue Department managed to extricate him from the machine.

Operations commander Mohd Zuhair Faisal Zulkifli was quoted by The Star as saying that six personnel from the Titiwangsa station were dispatched five minutes after they received a call yesterday.

The mall is located along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, and the incident occured at approximately 10am.

“When we arrived, we found a 49-year-old man trapped on the escalator on the first floor of the mall,” he was quoted as saying.

According to Zuhair, they started by securing the device and succesfully removed the man safely about 45 minutes later.

“He suffered a broken leg and was taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for treatment,” he said.
