KUALA LUMPUR (September 11): The original objectives of the People’s Housing Project (PPR) must be retained, said a Federal Territories lawmaker, as reported by the Malaysian Insight.

He also acknowledged that the scheme is the best way for low-income folk to eventually own homes.

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng said there should be an increase in number of PPR units built for the urban poor, and they should include better facilities.

The original objective of the programme that he refers to is to provide Malaysians with housing, until they are able to buy their own homes.
