PUTRAJAYA (July 20): To make it easier for the people to own and finance a home, a new national housing policy will be unveiled in December.
To ensure the new policy is capable of resolving home ownership issues, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Employees Provident Fund along with bank representatives and relevant associates have weighed in on the policy, said Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, according to the NST.
“I am optimistic that under the new government, the policy will change and it will make it easier to own and finance a home.
“Our goal is to see lower prices for homes and make them more affordable,” she said to the NST after visiting the Pudina 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Scheme in Presint 17 today.
Zuraida added that in an effort to streamline all government housing projects, she would soon present a proposal before the Cabinet.
Last month, it was reported that a suggestion to place all housing agencies under the Housing and Local Government Ministry would be presented to the Cabinet in July.
Upon approval, the status of all housing agencies will be studied and streamlined with the formation of the National Affordable Housing Council, as outlined in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto.
